How BitcoinMiningCalcs compares with other Bitcoin mining calculators

There are good free mining calculators on the web, and several of them will suit you better than ours for a specific job. This page lays out what each one does, cell by cell, so you can pick the right tool before you spend money on hardware.

Short version

  • Quick daily number for a known machine: ASIC Miner Value or CoinWarz. Both are fast and their presets are current.
  • Financed fleet with debt and IRR: Braiins. Its 36-month model with loan terms is the most complete single projection we know of.
  • Hashprice history and ASIC price benchmarks: Hashrate Index. The free tools are solid and the paid data platform is the industry reference.
  • Mining a coin other than Bitcoin: WhatToMine, minerstat or NiceHash. We only cover Bitcoin.
  • The full decision, start to finish, free and with no hardware to sell you: that is what we built this site for. The matrix below shows where that claim holds and where it does not.

Feature matrix

Eight calculators scored on 17 capabilities. Yes means the feature exists in full. Partial means it exists in a reduced form: a countdown instead of a modelled halving, a single fee field instead of payout methods, a paid tier instead of free access. Site names link to the tool we checked.

Each tool, on its own terms

BitcoinMiningCalcs

The Blockchain Academy

Use it for

Built to cover the whole decision rather than one number: 13 calculators, a 51-ASIC database with payback and resale estimates, a bear/base/bull simulator with halving, hold-versus-sell and shutdown risk, four live mining indexes with embeddable widgets and a free API, and the formula behind every result.

Where it stops

No IRR or debt-financing module yet. If your fleet is financed, run the capital structure in Braiins and the operations in our Simulator.

Braiins

learn.braiins.com

Use it for

The deepest single projection model available free: 36 months, yearly difficulty and price increments, a halving difficulty drop, CapEx break-even in both USD and BTC, IRR, average cost to mine one BTC and a debt-financing module with collateral and loan payments.

Where it stops

Manual entry only, no ASIC presets, no indexes or operations tools. Built by a pool and firmware vendor, which shapes its defaults.

Use it for

The industry reference for hashprice. Simple and advanced calculators with payback days and annualized IRR, a searchable ASIC database, the Bitcoin ASIC Price Index and an API. Its weekly Roundup is the best free mining newsletter.

Where it stops

Difficulty projection is a single monthly hashprice change field, and the deep history lives behind the paid data platform. Luxor also runs a pool and an ASIC shop.

WhatToMine

whattomine.com

Use it for

The widest multi-coin coverage and the largest pool directory, with hardware cost for ROI and a speculative-versus-historical difficulty switch. The right first stop if you mine anything other than Bitcoin.

Where it stops

No halving model and no forward projection. Ad and affiliate funded; ad-free browsing and API access cost $9 a month.

CoinWarz

coinwarz.com

Use it for

95 ASIC presets, a profit-per-watt metric, break-even days and a clear step-by-step methodology in its FAQ. Fast and current for a daily number.

Where it stops

States plainly that it does not project future difficulty. No pool payout methods, indexes or operations tools.

minerstat

minerstat.com

Use it for

Clean live data with a published confidence score for freshness and source coverage, plus a large preset catalog across many coins.

Where it stops

No hardware cost, payback or projection. The calculator is the front door to minerstat's paid mining-management software and affiliate hardware links.

NiceHash

nicehash.com

Use it for

Earnings per device across more than 20 algorithms, covering ASIC, GPU and CPU, with an embeddable calculator widget and a public API.

Where it stops

NiceHash is the pool and marketplace, so there is no pool choice, hardware cost, payback or projection.

ASIC Miner Value

asicminervalue.com

Use it for

The fastest answer to which machine earns the most today: every ASIC ranked by daily profit, ROI and efficiency, refreshed every minute, with live vendor prices.

Where it stops

A shopping tool rather than a planning tool. Only electricity price is adjustable, and there is no projection or methodology page.

Every calculator on this site uses the same live price and difficulty feed, shows its source and timestamp, and publishes the formula behind every result.

How we checked

  • Every site was opened on 26 September 2026 with scripts enabled, and each cell reflects what a visitor sees without paying or signing in.
  • Paid tiers are noted in the cells but not scored. Hashrate Index's data platform and WhatToMine's subscription each add depth a free visitor never sees.
  • Altcoin coverage is excluded on purpose. WhatToMine, minerstat and NiceHash are multi-coin tools and would lead any altcoin row. This page is scoped to Bitcoin economics.
  • "Business model" describes what the page itself sells. Several of these tools are built by pools, marketplaces or firmware vendors. That is context for reading their defaults, not a criticism.
  • If we have something wrong, or a tool has added a feature, email us and we will re-check and update the date above. We would rather be corrected than stale.

Questions people ask

Why do different calculators give different daily profit for the same miner?

Four things move the number: the BTC price feed and when it was fetched, whether transaction fees are added to the block subsidy, whether pool fees are deducted before or after, and whether hashprice is quoted gross or net. Our calculator shows each of these explicitly so you can reconcile it against any other tool.

Which calculator should I trust for a hardware purchase?

None of them alone. A snapshot calculator tells you today's margin. Before buying, run a forward model that includes difficulty growth and the April 2028 halving. Braiins and our Scenario Simulator both do that; the others on this page do not.

Is BitcoinMiningCalcs really free?

Yes. The site is funded by The Blockchain Academy's Bitcoin Mining Bootcamp. There are no ads, no affiliate hardware links and no hosting or pool to sell. The indexes, widgets and JSON API are free as well, rate-limited to 60 requests a minute.

Why is hashprice quoted per petahash on some sites and per terahash on others?

Same metric, different unit. Hashrate Index popularised $/PH/day as network hashrate grew. We show both. Divide the per-petahash figure by 1,000 to get per-terahash.
