How the 1-day, 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day Bitcoin network difficulty percentage change gauges are computed and interpreted, as shown above the difficulty-adjustment chart.
Frequently asked questions
How is the difficulty percentage change calculated?
Each gauge shows (current_difficulty − difficulty_N_days_ago) / difficulty_N_days_ago × 100 for N = 1, 7, 30, and 90. Difficulty values are snapshotted from the network's most recent 2,016-block adjustments.
Why show four different windows?
The 1-day and 7-day windows catch the impact of the most recent single adjustment; the 30-day view smooths across roughly two adjustments; the 90-day view shows the broader hashrate/difficulty trend across cycle phases.
What do the color bands mean?
Negative percentages (falling difficulty) render green — easier for miners; positive percentages (rising difficulty) render red — harder. The intensity scales with the magnitude of the change relative to historical volatility.
